Over 30 reasons to buy your truck body from Highway Products. Plus, over 20 .pdf drawings of our service bodies! (See below) Reason #1 Every business is unique. Your company does things different from other companies even in the same industry. Why shouldn't the biggest tool, your service body, be unique as well? You have to agree, building your body the way you want it will save time, which is money. We call it "Lean". $$$ That's what Highway Products can do for you. |
Reason #2 Your Truck Body Must Be Weather-Tight!Our Rainmaster® style doors give your truck body a weather-tight seal that can't be beat! |
|
| Truck Bodies Need Tough Components |
| Reason #3 No-rust marine grade aluminum. | ![]() |
| Used to build our line of PAVATI™ pro-series boats, marine grade aluminum is also used to make these truck bodies the toughest and lightest bodies you will find. We use lots of aluminum to build our products. In fact, 95% of our products are made of this great material. No rust. |
Reason #4 Truck Bodies Should be Light Weight
Saves Fuel - Saves Wear and Tear on your Vehicle.
Highway Products 8' Aluminum Service body= 645 pounds
Competitor 8' steel service bodies = 1200 - 1600 pounds
Rollover Image (flash needed)
Reason #5 - Fact: Aluminum is about half the weight of average sized steel or fiberglass (composite) service bodies; which equals 600 -1000 pounds. Depending on your truck, we figure, conservatively, you will save at least .20 cents a mile being 600 to 1000 pounds lighter with a Highway Products aluminum service body. If you put 30,000 miles per year on your truck, 30,000 x .20 cents equals $6,000.00. Use the example below to figure your savings from your mileage last year. Example: .20cents X 30,000 annual mileage = $6,000.00 savings.
Reason #6 What's the biggest threats to service bodies? Answer: Rust and cracking. Rust is the number one killer of service bodies. Especially in the northeast regions of the USA where salt is used for ice control. Steel just does not hold up to it. You can put all the fancy coatings you want on steel but they cannot withstand the constant sand blasting from the road and they can't paint the nooks and crannies where moisture sneaks into. They may look good from the topside but underneath is where they get blasted and underneath is where they fall apart. Some service bodies don't last more than a year. We use a marine grade aluminum that is used by boat manufacturers world wide. We also make aluminum boats so we've already been there. You don't need to paint them at all and they should last longer than you do. Fiberglass (composite) bodies crack. Repairs are hard to do and expensive. Reason #7 What is the resale value of an average size aluminum service body you might see on a 3/4 ton pickup truck compared to a steel or fiberglass (composite) service body after 4 years? Estimate - $500 - $1500 in good shape. Aluminum $4000 - $6000 in good shape. With an aluminum service body it makes sense to transfer the body to your next truck. Why not. A steel bed will cost you more to transfer than the body is worth. Add a new coat of paint and you look brand new! Reason #8 How do you put a price on wear and tear? An aluminum truck body can save thousands on the purchase of a 3/4 ton truck where a steel or fiberglass body might require a 1 ton truck. Maybe a 1/2 ton instead of a 3/4 ton truck. Then you can figure the cost difference between the two in fuel mileage, tire cost, and tire mileage. You can probably think of a few more. This unit has paid for itself already. |
| Reason #9 Field-Tested Locks - The same rugged locks and hinges our legendary semi truck tool boxes are know for. |
![]() |
Highway Products opened it's doors in 1980 building products for semi trucks. The stainless steel "Tee Lock" was the only lock capable of the demanding performance required. It's strong and dependable. That's why we install them as standard. We also have D-ring locks for fire departments. We've used many different styles of locks over the years. If you have a favorite, let us know. Warning: Do Not Buy Service Bodies with Electric key-fob locks. We've tried them all and they are not dependable. We stopped using them. |
Reason #10 Proven Hinges 14 Gauge Stainless Steel - 1/4 inch pin.
|
|
One of the most over-looked and under-estimated parts of a truck body is the hinge and the way it's fastened. As you can see, Highway Products eliminated this problem by using oversized stainless steel hinges. Plus, Highway Products uses Stainless Steel Torx™ screws that allows user to replace a door with simple tools in case of damage. No rivets here. Rivets work loose over time and you need special tools to replace them.

Reason #11 - We can build you a custom truck body! |
| If you've ever had custom made cabinets in your kitchen at home, you know how nice it is to have the drawers the right size, in the right place, shelves spaced to hold your dishes where you want them, knives and forks at your fingertips, and you get to choose the wood, the drawer slides, colors, handles, etc. Because you had a choice, your kitchen is the most efficient and maybe the nicest part of your home. A custom service body does the same thing. |
Reason #12 Take your parts to the job. Note: This is not an option. It's standard on all our service bodies!

We're not finished yet. Even more reasons to buy Highway Products Service and Utility Bodies |
When it comes to truck bodies, aluminum is king. |
![]() |
Warning! Don't be fooled by "Composite" Service Bodies! It's just a fancy name for fiberglass. Our service bodies are welded Aluminum which is hands down tougher and 20-30% lighter than fiberglass! That's right 30%. Composite (fiberglass) manufacturers brag about their light weight, but compare themselves with steel service bodies. When was the last time you saw a fiberglass truck flatbed? Never! Fiberglass just can't take abuse. We also have a line of aluminum boats. Same thing applies. Fiberglass has to be applied very thick to be structural. Making it heavy. And as the picture to the left shows, it cracks. Plus, fiberglass is sprayed over a mold by hand. Inconsistency's and quality depends on what day it is.. Custom units are not available. Aluminum is stronger, recyclable, easily repairable which is Green. Fiberglass is not green. It goes to the dump. Thinking about composite or rather fiberglass? Do yourself a favor. Think again. |

Save money for years to come! Think about it. "What will save me a few steps every time you use your service body?" There's lots of brands to choose from, but they offer what they have. Highway Products has standard models too. But we also offer what you need. And we'll save you money doing it! (Left) Another example of a body designed from the ground up for a customer who had a good idea of what he wanted. Our engineering staff put his ideas on our CAD software and sent them back to him via FAX, .pdf, or paper, for his approval. Seeing the print gave the customer a few more ideas. So we rebuilt the print and sent it back for his approval again. We made a few more design changes, he signs off on the print, we start to work with a plan. Simple as that. Nothing is done without a print for your approval. There's no extra cost whether you want to buy one unit or a hundred. "This is just how we do it." Plus, we do it 7 days a week with after hours Sales Staff waiting to talk about your service body. Think we're kidding? Call 1 541 778 0585 |

These pictures show the filler cap stashed behind one of the doors of your service body. This adds extra security for fuel theft and vandalism. |
Some manufactures are using "urea" (NH2)2CO to break down the NOX emissions that diesels emit. Highway Products put this urea filler neck behind one of the service body doors. Like the fuel filler (shown left & below) it also protects from theft and vandalism. |
